Dr. Joan Campbell has been a social worker in private practice since 1996. She obtained her Doctorate in Social Work from the University of Stellenbosch in 2004. She has also obtained a BA HONS Degree in Clinical Psychology and completed her research project focusing on parents who are wrongfully accused of sexually abusing their children within the context of a custody dispute.
Dr Campbell is registered with the South African Council for Social Service Professions, Association for Social Workers Implementing the Children's Act and South African Association of Social Workers in Private Practice.
Dr Campbell is a clinical and forensic social worker with considerable experience in child and adolescent sexual behaviour as well as being a specialist in assessing and treating youth sexual offenders and victims of sexual abuse .

Dr Campbell has written numerous articles for the print media and has been interviewed as an expert guest speaker on radio and television.
She is fully bilingual in English and Afrikaans.
